Pause You Counselling is a registered NDIS provider. Private health fund rebates can also be accessed. Medicare including GP Mental Health Care Plans do not currently cover counselling sessions with us.
Your Options:
A GP can provide a referral to access up to 10 mental health care sessions per year with a psychologist. If you are seeking a fully subsidised service you will need to find a psychologist who offers bulk billing otherwise there will be a fee.
Medicare provides a partial rebate between $98.95 (general psychologist) and $145.25 (clinical psychologist). For context, most psychologists charge $220–$318 (2026) per session so there is usually an out-of-pocket cost.
Our fee is simple and transparent. When you take the above into account, counselling and psychology sessions often end up costing a similar amount overall. It can feel complicated, but the detail matters when comparing options.
