Supporting NDIS Participants Through Counselling.
Living with a disability—or supporting someone who does—can bring unique challenges to your daily life. While there are often practical supports in place, emotional wellbeing can sometimes get left behind. That’s where counselling can make a real difference.
I offer a gentle, person-centred approach to therapy for NDIS participants. Whether you're navigating mental health challenges, burnout, anxiety, trauma, or just need a safe space to talk, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.
What does counselling under the NDIS look like?
If you have "Improved Daily Living" funding in your NDIS plan, you may be able to access therapeutic supports like counselling. This support is all about helping you live a more fulfilling, meaningful life, whatever that looks like for you.
Counselling can help with:
-
Managing anxiety, stress, or low mood
-
Building self-esteem and confidence
-
Navigating relationship or family dynamics
-
Processing trauma or life transitions
-
Creating healthier routines and coping strategies
-
Exploring identity, purpose, or life goals
-
Feeling more empowered and understood in your daily life
You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes, clients come to counselling because they’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Other times, they simply want a space where they can be themselves, without judgment, pressure, or needing to "have it all together." Therapy can be that space - calm, grounded, and just for you.
How I support NDIS participants:
-
I take the time to understand your story, your values, and your goals
-
I offer flexible, trauma-informed counselling at your pace—no rushing or pressure
-
Sessions are available in-person in Canberra or online, so we can meet in a way that works for you
-
I work with self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA managed participants
And if you’re not sure how to access counselling through your NDIS plan, I’m more than happy to discuss with yourself or your support coordinator to make the process easier.
For carers and support workers: I also understand the emotional load that comes with being in a caring role. If you’re a parent or family member feeling burnt out or overwhelmed, there’s support for you too. You deserve space to breathe, reflect, and recharge.
Pause You Counselling is here to support you—not just as a participant, but as a person. Because therapy isn’t about “fixing” anything. It’s about creating a space where you feel heard, valued, and supported to take the next step forward—whatever that might be for you.
If you’re an NDIS participant or support coordinator wanting to explore counselling options, feel free to get in touch. I’d love to connect.
